As one of Australia’s largest mussel producers, we pride ourselves on innovative farming practices, high standards of food safety and processing technology.

All our premium mussels are certified organic and preservative free.

And we hand grade the mussels… that means we pass our eyes over every mussel before we pack them. Only the best mussels make it from water to plate.

We test regularly, with a focus on water temperature, nutrients and mussel conditions. In fact, we insist on exceeding food and water quality standards.

At Eyre Peninsula Seafoods, we produce around 1,000 tonnes of premium quality mussels every year. That’s nearly 40 million mussels that we distribute to suppliers across Australia and the world.

We have purposefully spread our mussel farms over 350 hectares of pristine waters of Boston Bay.

That’s an area four times the size of Sydney Harbour. This gives us the advantage of selecting only the best live mussels to harvest.

When compared to other meat produce, the growth cycle of a mussel is rapid, taking from 6-12 months to mature. This gives us the ability to quickly adapt to changing demands in the market and increase our supply when needed.

We produce premium mussels all year round. And whilst the shell size varies due to changes in seasonal weather conditions, our mussels retain the same quality and flavour. No matter the time of year.

We developed our innovative SeaSure packaging for the protection of the live mussels. By minimising the stress the mussel endures from water to plate, we deliver a premium eating mussel is consistently and continuously to you.

And with our proprietary brand offering, you can develop your own branded packaging for use in foodservice distribution or retail.

We ship directly to market using refrigerated trucks or via airfreight to domestic and international markets. Our mussels come to you chilled and fresh.

We look globally to best practices for our farming and processing… and then we make it our own. From the use of New Zealand technology on the water, to the latest German, Dutch and US processing and packing machinery, every aspect of our operation has been pioneering, for the South Australian – and Australian – mussel farming industry.

National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia

Our premium mussels meet the NASAA Organic and Biodynamic Standard, which covers the organic supply chain – from input manufacturers, producers, processors to wholesale and retail operations – ensuring organic integrity ‘from paddock to plate’.

NASAA Certified Organic (NCO) is a fully-owned subsidiary of the National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia and provides certification and audit services to the organic industry, in Australia and internationally.

South Australian Shellfish Quality Assurance Program

​SASQAP is a joint initiative between Primary Industries and Regions South Australia (PIRSA) and the shellfish industries of South Australia.

The quality assurance program provides public health protection for consumers of South Australian shellfish. Under the program, SASQAP monitor water water and shellfish where oysters, mussels, cockles and scallops harvested to ensure that shellfish products sold only originates from areas free of any harmful substances.

We are accredited under the SA Primary Produce Food Safety Scheme Act 2004. This is an independently audited scheme that ensures the safe growing, harvesting, handling and transport of mussels. Accreditation Number 20/128.

Eyre Peninsula Seafoods has achieved an Approved Arrangement with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF). This is a certification to allow the export of mussels and incorporates Good Hygiene Practice, HACCP, Product Integrity and Importing country requirements. Registered Establishment Number 1667. Our arrangement is audited every six months by DAFF and ensures the highest standard of food safety throughout the process from sea to plate.

Halal Australia

Our mussel products have been verified by Halal Australia to conform to the Codex of Halal Principles. The scope of the certification covers receiving and storage of raw materials, manufacturing, labelling, packing, storage and dispatch of live mussels, mussel stock and natural cooked (in the bag) mussels.
